INSIDE MOTORSHOW2017: GIANPIETRO PARMEGGIANI COLLECTION - ITALERI . EXCLUSIVE CONNECTION
.. And after few steps, I saw the light...
In a square, I saw them.
It's a sort of love at first sight. You know?
Walking to nowhere. Looking for nothing special, looking for The Special One.
And then...
Then you saw the best Bikes that made the History of our passion.
But, before the bike, I have to spend a couple of minutes to introduce you Mr. Parmeggiani, Mariangela, and the brand called Italeri.
Do you think that this Man is living the dream?
Yes, maybe.
Now, for sure.
But don't make the usual mistake of think that He had no troubles.
We use to forget very easily that success and big targets are not for free.
If now Mr. Parmeggiani is considered one of the most important private collectors here in Italy, but I would venture to say in Europe, checking his personal selection, all of that was due to a great willpower...
I don't know very well Mr.Parmeggiani to confess you all of this aspect of his life; I talked with him only a few minutes.
But in that time He always answered clearly, showing his feelings and thoughts, no artifices excuses or wordplays.
A self-confident Man.
A self-made Man.
Numbers:
At 14 years old his first work.
For 18 months in the Army.
Work again.
Till 1959.
And the Dream that comes true.
A name that lives today...
Created with his copartner Malservisi, this two pioneers decided to invest all of them in this high-risk adventure.
To build the best, with the high-quality materials, scale models ever see before.
2 workmen ( the owners of ITALERI) and one worker.
The rider Tarquinio Provini with his factory Protar, specialized in motorcycle scale models, asked very soon to make for him some projects.
Why? Why a competitor had to ask such a thing?
Genius, precision, reliability.
And all of these qualities in one Factory.
This is the answer.
An example?
ITALERI made a scale replica 1/9 of Moto Morini 250 double overhead camshaft.
With no technical drafts, drawings or even more simply pictures.
They made the replica only with Tarquini's claims and information.
Scale models.
What do you think fellas?
Today our young officers, our young guns will be able to appreciate all of this?
Or will continue to push imaginary buttons on a 5inches screen?
"Moto. Remeber Luca. Stay focused on the Motorcycles."
Right Fellas.
Sorry.
Sometimes I use to talk and talk and talk.
By the way.
All of us know what motorbikes represent, the conquest.
Conquest of freedom, independence, and love.
This is no propaganda. it's only the truth.
Mr. Parmeggiani conquered, thanks Ghigo Roli with you "LA STORIA IN UN ROMBO", all of this target in only one shoot with Benelli Leoncino.
Take all of these experiences, mix them, and the natural consequence is to take care of this passion.
How?
Saving and preserving the memory.
In this case, Racing Motorcycle memory.
I don't know if one day I will have the possibilities to see live this amazing collection.
Maybe not or maybe yes.
It's out of my control.
But I know very well one thing:
Respect and admirations for what he did, and still doing, will be very high.
The grateful example of our ITALIA.
Example of excellence, innovation and competitive aims in the most of activities.
Glory and success...
They are not for free.
They require their toll.
Sacrifice.
Whether it's for a record track, a World title, or simply to pay their employees' salary, real dream makers in ITALERI.
This, fellas it's only a little part of his collection.
This, my fellas, it's only the best you can find here at Motorshow if you are looking for special Bikes.
We use to celebrate Valentino Rossi like the GOAT, the greatest of all times.
But we use to have a bad memory.
Before Valentino, Luchinelli, Cadalora, Uncini, Ago (you who he is?!), when Motorcycle was in its early days, in Italy there was a Rider that ran like a fool: called by many "BLACK DEVIL", for the color of his hair and his Diabolique style on the bike.
A man, before the Rider.
And his name is Omobono Tenni.
The first foreign Rider able to win the prestigious TT in 1937.
Forever connected to Moto Guzzi, with the bikes made in Mandello del Lario Tenni seemed could do whatever he wanted.
Fast, aggressive like no one before, once on his Guzzi he reached only one thing: speed.
Like a thunder.
Thank God we got a great book that told us something about this new prototype rider:
Tenni, L'antenato di Valentino.
And thank God we have also a caretaker, a keeper of the memory of these time so far from today:
Gian Piero Parmeggiani.
Every Bike of his collection has a story ready to be told.
But first, It's necessary that you want to hear it.
Stories that sound like legends, made by heroes, often alone against everything.
Against themselves before: the Ego, first rival.
