REMEMBER THE ROOTS! BIMOTA CLASSIC PARTS

Past. Present. Future.
Three aspects of life that we have always to consider.
This translation will not be the same of "ROOTS ARE IMPORTANT". Too many days passed, I got a lot of work to do.


But the feelings, well, the feelings are the same.
Outside Italy, you say Bimota, and the first expression you will see on faces is astonishment.
Yes.
Bimota are these kinds of bikes that leave you breathless and give a rapid acceleration to the heart beating.
Maybe because of the livery, the instant classic design, that seems timeless, maybe for technical features, for the frames, for the engines.
Maybe only because was handmade with love and passion.
Last week there was in Città Della Pieve the SECOND REUNION of BIMOTA.
I had to thank a lot Paolo Girotti to let me know real news and some info about the story of this Glorious Factory.
Went alone, a Saturday mid-day started my journey.
Alone. Without GPS, from Rimini.


A 440km round trip along the best Italian roads.
25€ of gasoline. And my faithful Hypermotard.
Alone first in my thoughts. after a while, I was with mines.
In good company.
But I don't want to waste your time. So.
Bimota was born a long time ago in a good place: The Italian Motorvalley, Romagna.
Not so far to the mountains and very close to the sea.
The three young parents gave to her an interesting name: the first two letters of each name.
VALERIO BIANCHI, GIUSEPPE MORRI and the Master, MASSIMO TAMBURINI.
BIMOTA.
Produced the real jewels in a kit for race bikes at first.


After a short time, they decided to produce the very first BIMOTA:
The HB1
The story was:
The first letter indicates the brand of the engine (for the HB1=Honda)
The second letter is for the frame, handmade by Bimota.
And the number is progressive for the model, 1,2,3 etc.
The collaborations were of the most distinguished: Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Harley-Davidson.
But with the Desmo will be a real and fascinating partnership, and the most famous Bimota Bikes of all the time, in my opinion.

Or the DB1, or also the Tesi 2d? Or the Delirio, well. as I said a timeless design.

But now,
Yes my dear Goodfellas,
Bimota is dead (in the production).
LONG LIFE TO BIMOTA CLASSIC PARTS!


Bimota, after the turbulent times during the production of the V2, a beast bike with a two-stroke engine all made in Bimota (the only BIMOTA all produced in the factory), and for the years to come, has been left on its own.

With a strange administration boarding.
And a dark future perspective. 
And an exsanguinated storage. 
Luckily I introduce you the first actor that play in this story.
Like the legend of the Phoenix, her end was the new beginning.

Paolo is a real fan of Bimota, since he was young.
But don't imagine Paolo as a rich man that for his pleasure give a new birth to the Bimota Classic Storage.
He faced a lot of difficulties, with very little supports, also in the economic field (we still living in crisis times, banks don't help too much people who want follow their dreams).
But as Walf Disney said "If you can dream it, you can do it"!
And The BIMOTA had a newborn!




He made a lot of sacrifices and with a lot of patience in the last four years made his goal.
To save and restore the new Storage and built a very rich collection as you can see.
The DNA of this great factory was saved by Paolo. 
I got a very big admiration for Paolo. 
He got a lot of mechanical engineering knowledge, like a Prof.
And a big respect for the past. Bimota's past.
And maybe the most important thing: He loves his work.

Paolo had an architectural background. Graduated in Florence in Industrial design, bring Bimota project like the thesis for his graduation.
The passion for the motorcycles was too strong to hear her call.
Was 2006, and so started to work in Bimota like layout designer in the new Bimota's production.
But was the history behind the Factory to charm Paolo. And behind there was the Storage. But the new Administration boarding was deaf to the requests of Paolo: to give importance to the old production.
After 8 years, in October 2014 Bimota Classic Parts finally started his new and most important adventure.


It's very simplistic define the Classic Parts as a storage. It's something more.
It's a place to visit and remember the roots of the motorcycle racing. To see and learn something from our past, our cause we love motorcycle.
It's a space to live!
It's a meeting point, every year Paolo organize The Reunion, an International Bimota Owner meeting, but also who does not have a Bimota can participate. 01/02.07.2017. 


(I'm a donkey, I were not there, but i had to work all Saturday, and Sunday i had to spend the day with my family, but, it's a promise, i will be there again, very soon).
It's a living museum.


It's a place to drink a cold beer and share a passion.
It's an E-SHOP, yes, for all Bimota owner bumped from the old BIMOTA srl.


This is what simply is th BIMOTA CLASSIC PARTS.
And it's not a distress call.
But I hope that will be an exhortation to know better Bimota, her History, and remember her roots.
In the next chapters, yes, this is a sort of foreword, I will talk about Gp and street legal bikes. The most important production, and in the last about the importance of handmade frame builder.
Roots are important.
