MUPO is a suspension and shock absorbers factory, based near Bologna. And they are the GURU about suspensions, forks and motorcycles dynamics.
They challenge also in CIV, Campionato Italiano Velocità, and mates, they kick asses. They face off a someone called Ohlins, and win!

But why I told before about a revolution?
About what?
Well, let me think where to start.
Ok, MAGNETO.
I'll start with the name of this new project!
Magneto, Supervillain in XMEN Saga as well also a brand new semi-active suspension system.
Ah, ok, a semi-active suspension, the "Golds" one made years ago.
Yes, mates, it's true.
But they rode the electric way.
Now we are on a new, unchartered territory.
MUPO made the first magneto-rheological shock absorbers.
And not for only a few elected with hyperconnected bikes.
But for everybody, every bike can be equipped with them.
But how do they work?
Why a revolution?
In the last years, only premium hypercars used this highly performance suspension system. Basically, the hypercars adapt they setting immediately, without the gap (like the electric semi-active shock absorber or the mechanic one).
Inside the suspension, there is a fluid (like an oil), that reacts to an electromagnetic field. Can change the viscosity very very quickly. Hard soft medium, you will have always the right set up, in every situation.
Fast, secure and really performing, they read the streets, wet or dry no matter, cause they will help you always, in milliseconds.
There was only a very BIG problem. The cost.
Too high to be installed on sports cars, or even on a medium car. Extreme powers need extreme balance and control.
Close your eyes, and start to dream and imagine to apply this technology on a motorcycle, with all the risk we have to face every day.

Price? About 3500€ for the complete suspension kit plus the ECU.

This is my mail sent in June to the Factory:
"L'installazione delle Magneto è precula a determinate moto? Nel senso, devo essere dotate di abs? Ho letto che moto dotate di forcella inferiore ai 41 sono escluse. Ma ad esempio Hypermotard o Multistrada dotati di desmo due, ma prive di qualsivoglia elettettronica, come si comporterebbe la centralina siemens o marelli con la piattarma inerziale mupo?
Il peso del sistema Magneto in quanto si attesta? rispetto al prodotto stock?
La manutenzione è molto delicata? E' cioè necessario affidarsi SOLO a rivenditori e addetti Mupo per eventuale cambio olio ecc?
Ho visitato a Marzo 2017 la "piccol" bottega di Ascanio, abitando a pochi passi da Cerasolo, e ho visto una 987 c3 equipaggiata con le Vostre sospensioni. Già l'handling, dicono, non avendo disponibilità economica mi è preclusa la possibilità di goderne, sia eccelsa. Non oso immaginare cosa potrebbe saltare fuori equipaggiata con le magnetoreologiche.
La temperatura dell'olio incide molto sul loro funzionamento (a caldo e a freddo) oppure non soffrono di questi problemi?
E il comportamento sul bagnato?"
Federico wrote me after a few days, replay to all my questions and explained me everything on this kit:
" - Il sistema Magneto si può applicare a tutte le moto con e senza ABS. L’unico limite è il diametro della forcella che deve essere minimo 41 mm.
Ovviamente anche tutti i sistemi Telelever sono inclusi.
Questo sistema non si interfaccia con l’elettronica originale della moto per cui non ci sono problemi di collegamento a centraline o piattaforme inerziali OEM.
- Il peso del sistema è equiparabile a quello di un normale kit di sospensioni after market come le valigette da noi commercializzate. La centralina pesa invece sui 300 gr.
- La manutenzione è la stessa dei prodotti after market: cambio olio, cambio tenute e pattini di scorrimento. Ovviamente bisogna utilizzare componenti originali Mupo.
Consigliamo visto la particolarità del prodotto di effettuare la revisione presso la nostra sede.
- Non c’è alcuna variazione di damping tra caldo e freddo. A differenza di quanto accade su una sospensione meccanica, il sistema Magneto è in grado di riconoscere eventuali variazioni e adatta il sistema per rispondere sempre in modo costante.
- In condizioni di bagnato, come in qualsiasi altra condizione, il sistema è auto adattivo per cui adatta la sospensione in funzione dei movimenti della cassa della moto per avere sempre il miglior compromesso."

A very strange idea is in my mind. Also in DP ECU of my Hypermotard…
