Goodmorning my Fellas!
The journey continues.
The weather outside the Hall was very cold, grey, and very close rain every time.
Burt was still weaving me, while I decided to ride up to another stand.
The journey was long, and the time was ticking.
The Orange was waiting for me.
For years.
My first Bike, my first love was this little insane two-stroke:



KTM
Time flew away. But KTM continued to make extreme and exciting bikes.
This is the reason why their stand is always plenty of people.
But I was lucky, in that moment there was a strange quiet.
I had the possibility to see two real brand new bike with the innovative 2-cylinder engine called 790.
After one year the concept presented in the last EICMA became a reality:

This is new
DUKE 790



Called "The Scalpel", now we know more about his nature:
105hp at 9000rpm and 86nm at 8000rpm.
Price? Really honest: 9450€.
They changed the exhaust, but it's very close to the concept.
In orange or black and grey.

I took few minutes to admire this bike when suddenly a lot of people's  gathering at the catwalk.
Put down the veil on the second news:

The dirty
790 ADVENTURE.


The Same engine of the Duke. They told us that it's a comfortable touring bike. Well, I see a lot of things, but trust me when I say that I can't see a touring bike. 
Ktm is starting to use this new technique, to show a concept, and if we ask, or simply we need that bike, after one year, we got it!


And we are very lucky because they're never wrong.

Here for you the 2Stroke enduro with the revolutionary ignition engine!
I wrote a post about, and now to see the bikes ready to hit the dirt tracks.
Now, for many of this is a sort of sacrilege. But the Emission-reducing legislation requires it. Otherwise the death of the 2Strokes.

I like a lot this innovation. Cause the lightness and power will remain, only little bit green ;-).
My first bike was a real bastard: a KTM EXC 200


Powerful but not very practical to ride offroad and everytime add a blend of lubricant oil 1,5% and gasoline. Autoblender, ignition, petrol station and go away!
Same for KTM, the engine, in fact, is the same, the first difference I recognized is in the rear subframe, that in the Swedish is in plastic, to reduce the weight, instead of the Austrian that is in steel.


Three feet away I met their Swedish cousins:

HUSQVARNA
Well, the white and black arrows arrived finally in the stores.
The 401 Svartpilen and Vitpilen.
For satisfying our hunger Husky produced these two little but smart jewels: the 401 Svartpile and 401 Vitpilen.
Looks maybe a little bit small for tall fellas, but it doesn't matter, they are simply amazing.



375cc mono cylinder for both, 44hp at 7000rpm and a lightweight around 150kg.
Price maybe could be a little high for a 400, 6550€.

But it's under a dark drape the real super surprise:

The 701 SVARTPILEN



2017 concept, and like the Austrian relative the street legal will arrive ready to ride next EICMA2018.
Kiska design made another goal: minimal design with a clean and compact line.
The livery is simply amazing, but the thing I like the most is the asymmetry of the body in the back of the bike, where a dark fairing hides a part of the right side like a racing number plate.



690R KTM engine, able to give 70hp at 8500rpm and 72Nm at 6750rpm.
Weight? XXX.
152Kg.
Only 2 Kg more than the 401, these assumptions are the best!
PRICE?
Around 10500€. A complete electric pack (safety first, abs tc but no engine maps) will bring you towards new horizons.


And? No more?
DAMN WE WANT SOMETHING DIRTY!
Sure? Do you really want something dirty?
Extreme?
And what about this?

The new 701 ENDURO equipped for the long desert ride!?
Big tank, and no gasoline problem for miles!





145Kg. 74hp at 7000rpm.
If we look back in the early 00's, the weight is very close to the EXC 450 Racing (my 2002). Without the hours manuteince problems. The real heir of the glorious Dual Bike.
Ready to face hard Enduro, but also usable on the road!

But I have to go. The time has come.
I must continue my journey. Thought the bikes, through the stands, through the helmets.

Step by step we arrived in a huge square: white and blue propeller towered over us.

The German brought a lot of jewels. Rare pearls ready to be admired on the first floor: natural born racer bike that challenged in the WORLD ENDURANCE SERIES this year finishing in the 2nd place...

215 hp to bring you in the hell and back. And not for only 40/45 minutes.
But for hours, around 24h. Able to face the stress for a long time riding session it's also a good comfort once seated.
A fast demon.
And has also a lot of hobbies: to kill tires, and to give you countless emotions every time you go full throttle.

And what about this ?
Minimal, beautiful with her class.
You see the RninT and the first emotions you feel are admiration and desire.
To own, to ride, to enjoy the travel.
feel the torque of the boxer every time you go full throttle.
The alu tank. that round light in front of the bike.

And next the Endurance S1000RR an amazing reintrpretation of the RnineT RACER.

The BoxerCup 2.0 R nineT Racer has the same 1,170cc oil/air-cooled boxer engine making 110 hp like the street legal. Side stands, mirrors, license plate, turn signals and lighting system: why have I to use on track? 



Damn, only a lot of weight to bring with me, so GO AWAY! This special version has the following special equipment:

  • Cylinder head covers, engine spoiler, rear end of Ilmberger
  • Akrapovič sports muffler and titanium manifold

Step by step I passed the scooter section, no, no pics sorry, check on scooter web mag ;-) if you want some info (but I have to admit, there were many info Escooters and also the strange GSscooter).
Something about the GS1200?
NO.
But I found very interesting the all-new GS850!



And damn it's really all new!
Take a look:
The fuel tank it's not under the seat like it was in the past M.Y.,  but in the middle of the bike.
"A very grateful handling!" the Helix team told during the presentation.


Well, the weight, and this is only my thought, it's a little bit too high, again.
But the engine earned many HP. around 100Hp.
Much more technology, the bike exposed had the ESA, full LCD dashboard, 12v USB, heated grips, Akrapovic, e-gear and also someone who ride for you. Stop kidding ok.

This year the Crossover ruled the scene.
Husqvarna, KTM, Royal Enfield, Triumph, very soon Ducati and Yamaha.
The idea of an efficient Dual Bike to ride in a lot of different conditions it's very attractive and remarkable.
Although remember my dear Goodfellas. Most of us ask for smart bikes.
But we know what we really want.. And in the end of this journey you will see the great Battle.
Only a special selection of the best brands from all the world.

And in a blink, I was in Pesaro.

BENELLI

Maybe not really in Pesaro, but in the Chinatown of Pesaro.
Yes, because bike like Tornado I think will be hard to see in the near future.
But also this current production is interesting.
The Chinese reborn of Benelli came through its birthplace: Pesaro.
Chinese founds but all the R&D based in Italy. The design is very interesting, smart bikes, mid-engines, great price: what else?
And next year we will see again on our roads an old friend: a friend who helped Benelli to win the 50's crisis in Italy. And got a very Big name: the Leoncino.
I wrote a post about this important bike, able to drag the Benelli sales in the post-WWII times.
Now the Leoncino will have to face a very similar challenge. With a lot of skilled competitors!
Will it have success?
I hope so.

The rest of the new production, if I have to tell my opinion, didn't move me:
A clone, first of all, the Diavel clone or the Monster clone.




Another interesting bike is the new 
BENELLI TORNADO NAKED T 125.
Small, but not inside!



I hope in a new design way, able to identify better who Benelli was, and projecting it in a great future.
Maybe reusing old concept bikes or models in a new dimension.
But I'm still missing the Tornado 900.
Or taking a look even farther back in time: the MOJAVE.
One of the best Scrambler I have seen since today.


They have to dare little more: like a new two-stroke engine, maybe.
Or new classic design
Rome wasn't built in one day.
And they got time to improve their production.

Close the Benelli another old but gold brand.

Schiranna.
Off road.
Bad ass motorbikes in the 60's and 70's.

Then, oblivion.
Not for their fault.
As always like the Grim Reaper, the crisis has hit again.
Now, As usual, the production's back on again thanks to Chinese founds that had the intention to produce high-quality motorbikes with an Italian brand on.
And SWM's back on her roots: SEXY dirty bikes and a brand new "Neoretrò" series based on a common engine:
the 440cc mono.

I will write a story about SWM, cause I had got the possibility to talk a lot with A great Manager, xyz, who explained me all the situation, from the birth of the brand, till today.

Alone in his stand, a bearded man stared at nothing.
Mr.Anderson, don't worry.
I think they will appreciate the Arch bikes.
Unique forms, strange solutions, for sure, like the smartphone instead of the dashboard.
Or the revolutionary mono shock or the all carbon body.
