EICMA 2018: ROYAL ENFIELD XK CONCEPT
1937, United Kingdom.
Royal Enfield, after its first attempt in twin bikes area with the K model, a 976cc bike, in 1937 has shown its natural evolution: the Royal Enfield KX model!
A 1140cc V-Twin engine able to reach the 130km/h and cheap fuel consumption: over 26km with 1 litre.
Girder forks, 4 gears shift by hand, and an innovative oil cooling system.
The advert for the KX in 1938 read "The last word in luxury motorcycles!”.
The cost? Less than 100£ compared to the most famous Brough Superior: 77£.
Not simply a fallback, but a real and valuable option.
And, after over 80 years...
And after 81 years the beauty of the Royal Enfield KX was reborn in this concept.
It belongs to my personal chart called the outsider, maybe not so useful, but charming with an interesting design.
The modern RoyalEnfield it’s based in India, right, but Polaris group got some stocks in. And with the help of the mother company, RoyalEnfield produced its first V-Twin totally Made in India.
And it’s winking to the Indian V-Twins, but what da hell, this is business and the know-how sharing it’s common.
90hp, an air-cooled look, mono seat, bobber style, girder forks. Take the shaker and mix.
What about the design?
Honestly, I don’t know if Pierre Terblanche put his hands on, but I have to admit that I like the design, especially the front view.
Are you ready to wait till 2019?
