EICMA 2019: BMW VISION DC ROADSTER & CONCEPT R/18
CONCEPT R/18
the centerpiece of the BMW Motorrad Concept R 18 is a large 2-cylinder boxer engine with 1800 cc, including modern air/oil cooling and designed in a 1960s aesthetic.
The engine is finished in a warm grey tone and has a sporty look, with an integrated breast cover, valve covers in a high-gloss black finish and a black frame.
Hand brushed aluminum galore! There are no covers on the bike: the exposed mechanism was used as a distinctive feature for a real retrò bike.
In fact, the only electric parts were used to give power to the lights and stop (light).
A new big cruiser is born. Are you ready?
VISION DC ROADSTER
Is it possible to give the same sensation of an intern combustion engine to an electric engine?
The first one is noisy, alive with its movements and shaking.
Completely different to the electric one. Silent, in its fixed motion.
Or maybe not.
For BMW the VISION DC ROADSTER represents the bridge between these points.
With the old-styled triangular frame and the electric engine that looks like the iconic Bavarian boxer, BMW brings us a new point of view on the e-motorcycles.
